Spectrum News featured the Vanguard Instruments for Students Program
On February 12th, Spectrum News broadcasted a feature interview about Vanguard’s Instruments for Students Program.
Jill Rifkin, our hardworking member who heads the program and Kim Reynolds Hoffman, music teacher at Thomas O’Brien Academy for Science and Technology, stress the importance of giving the instruments to low income students. Because many schools lack a sufficient instrument supply, some students might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in music groups.
Educational studies show that grades and attendance often improve among these students as they experience the joy of playing music with their peers. Jill has already collected over 120 instruments to be distributed among these students.
